A home is
like
your car as it requires regular maintenance and periodic repairs.
An inspection is like taking your car to a mechanic during a
test drive.
Our
Standard Home
Inspection conforms to the Standards of Practice of
the American Society of Home Inspectors, which is a visual
evaluation of all the
accessible areas of the home. Click here
to view the Standards.
The Standard Home Inspection is very
comprehensive and covers all areas of the home, inside and out, that
are typically present the day you first move-in. The average
sized house will have several hundred items evaluated during a Standard
Home Inspection.
The
Process:
The inspection usually begins around the outside, evaluating the
driveway, sidewalks, drainage conditions, etc. We go
step-by-step around the outside of the house, ending with a trip up to
the roof. Yes, I actually do go onto the roof - at least I try as
much as
humanly possible and make it about 90% of the time. Inside,
we usually start at the top by checking the
attic and work our way down. And yes, I also try my best to
actually crawl into most attics and crawl spaces - please feel free to
accompany me. We go room-by-room, item-by-item
until we reach the basement. The basement has most of the
major mechanical systems and all are carefully inspected one-by-one.
All
of the inspection data is entered on a state-of-the-art handheld tablet
PC. Photographs are taken of any defects and these are all
incorporated into the report. At the end of the inspection,
your report is printed on-site, in full-color via a mobile printer.

as well as the book, BASIC
HOME SYSTEMS (an $11.95 value),
ASHI pamphlets on Home
Maintenance, Our Standards
of Practice and Tips on Mold/Mildew and Keeping Your Basement Dry.
